Hi guys, no NOTD pics of my new mani today. I didn’t get a chance to take daylight pictures, but I have a pretty awesome post for you guys in lieu of that. I picked up the MAC 5 Haute High Jinks Warm Pigment/Glitter Set ($32.50) from the Mischief Makers collection a week or so ago, and I am positively in LOVE! I was also able to get a pretty generous sample of Melon pigment, which they had a tester of from the Alakazam! Chocolate Eye Bag (Melon is permanent, but normally only available at the Pro Store). I was super excited about that one because after swatching it I was pretty sure it’s the perfect gold I’ve been looking for. The SA was so cute – she even gave me a little spatula to use with the pigments hehe.
The packaging for the sets is adorable and mirrors the design on the eyeshadow, lip and face palettes this year. There are also two other pigment/glitter sets 5 Cool Capers and 5 Sexpot Smoky, which are also reallly pretty, but the colors from the warm set just really spoke to me.
Each set contains 5 mini vials, one glitter and four pigments. I believe all the ones from 5 Haute High Jinks are either permanent or repromotes. I didn’t have any of them before, so I was happy to pick up such a lovely set of colors. It was seriously love at first swatch. From left to right, Reflects Gold glitter, Jardin Aires pigment, Museum Bronze pigment, Rushmetal pigment and Copperized pigment (which is rather oddly named since it’s not copper at all…).
Here are some swatches in indirect daylight sunlight. From left to right, Melon, Copperized, Rushmetal, Museum Bronze, Jardin Aires and Reflects Gold. The swatches are pretty true to color here, except that I find Copperized to be a little darker, more taupey and muted than it looks here. Also, this picture does not do Reflects Gold glitter any justice at all. Reflects Gold is just what it sounds like, a clear glitter that reflects gold, but it is really, really amazingly gorgeous. I was really impressed with it because I definitely hadn’t expected such a fine particle size.
And here are swatches of MAC Vintage Gold pigment and Cocomotion (L-R) for comparison (the only ones I have that might even be close lol). In my opinion, this is a truer picture of Copperized. As you can see, Copperized and Vintage Gold are really quite different and Cocomotion is a good bit warmer and lighter than Copperized and Museum Bronze, so I’m quite happy.
As far as texture goes, these pigments are phenomenal. I was never really interested in MAC’s pigments before I received Cocomotion from the lovely Michelle at LipstickRules! because the texture of the only one I had (MAC Mutiny) was really a PITA to work with. The ones in the 5 warm pigments set are amazing though – really easy to apply smoothly and blend. Copperized and Museum Bronze in particular are incredible in texture – almost like Shu Uemura metallic finish shadows. Rushmetal and Jardin Aires have a little more fallout, but they’re still great. Reflects Glitter obviously isn’t really meant to be used as a wash (and if I recall correctly, it’s not technically eye safe!!! so use at your own caution!), but it sticks great over top any other color when lightly patted on with a fluffy brush and REALLY adds a great kick to a nighttime eye. Melon isn’t part of the set, but it’s texture is on par with Rushmetal and Jardin Aires.
These pigments are really so, so gorgeous. I’ve actually been using them almost every single day for the last two weeks despite the fact that I rarely (read: basically never) use my other loose shadows (usually Cocomotion on the lid, Museum Bronze or Copperized in the outer corner & Jardin Aires to highlight, plus UD Stash as a liner). I am really happy with this purchase and I highly recommend the set to everyone! Especially if you have a similar skintone – I haven’t really been able to capture how pretty these pigments look on my eyes, but they’re truly stunning.
Omg, those are crazy beautiful.

I love MAC pigments, I have a few golds, browns and greens! Melon is definitely one of my favourites! Have you tried out Blonde's Gold? It's a color I think you would like too ;D
