Friday FOTD – Teal, Gold and Coral

Hi guys! I haven’t been posting many “for fun” FOTDs lately, so I’m going to try to at least post one every week. I’m not promising anything though LOL. This FOTD is actually from last Friday (I’m pretty behind and I’m afraid if I delay some of these any longer I just won’t remember what I wore LOL). Life’s been pretty hectic lately, so I’ve been rocking a lot of golds and easy neutrals or little-to-no eye makeup and bright lips. On Friday I had a little extra time so I decided to play with one of my favorite colors, teal. I don’t remember why but I really really wanted to rock a gold/teal combo.

Eyes: TBS Shimmer Cubes 18 Green Shimmer, MAC Mutiny, UD Flipside, HIP Showy duo teal, MAC Melon, HIP Chrome Gold, Prestige WP Surf; Cheeks: Tarina Tarantino Parasol, Shu Uemura P Peach 45, Shu Uemura Lolly Cherry, LM Gilded Garden; Lips: Chanel Egerie

I started out wanting to use the Green Shimmer shade from TBS Shimmer Cubes 18, but it more or less just looks like white on me, so I ended up going over it mostly with MAC Mutiny. It’s still peeking out a little and really brightened up the whole look though, I think. For the cheeks, I couldn’t decide what I wanted. I started out with Tarina Tarantino Parasol, decided I wanted to go peachier and added Shu P Peach 45 … and then decided that wasn’t quite right and added Shu Cherry Lolly which is a bright cherry pink. I really liked the result (which is a little pinker than the pictures show), especially paired with Chanel Egerie.

And guys, I don’t usually say this, but TGIF!!

I’m planning to spend the weekend cleaning & doing laundry lol. Anybody got more exciting plans than I do?

    what a pretty teal!! i tried UD’s flipside but thought it was waaaaay too bright for me, haha. i prefer sticking to navys i think. can’t wait to see more fun fotd’s :P not that your normal ones aren’t fun, of course!

    Catherine responds:

    Thanks! Honestly, my favorite teal is still HIP’s Showy. I think it’s a dupe for MAC Parrot? It’s soooo purdy, and less METALLIC on the eye than UD Flipside. I like Flipside but I find it kind of hard to incorporate into other looks. And psh – too bright – you’re just not used to it yet! =P

    & hahaha. I aim to please. :D

    And ooooooh class on Saturday, that sucks… =/ What class?

    Surprising, right?! I think it’s because the teal has enough yellow in it to keep it from clashing too much. Thanks! :D

    & oooh, hope you finish your papers! I’ve got a write-up myself but thankfully my partner and I already did all the math. I totally agree though! I’m *so* annoyed it’s so freezing cold during the week and then beautiful on the weekends when I have to stay in. ;_;

    Catherine responds:

    Thanks! Aww, the right blush & highlighter will do that for you! I used the Laura Mercier Gilded Garden Shimmer Bloc for this look (and more or less everyday) with a stiff small round brush (I think it’s the MAC 109SE … it’s supposed to be a blush brush but it’s so ridiculously small lol, but perfect for highlighter) and more or less just draw a straight line from the middle of the apple of my cheek to the highest point of my cheekbone. The Shimmer Bloc actually has really fine shimmers and not that much color (at least on me) so it’s subtle but it definitely makes a difference!

    Thanks! So, Parasol totally is not the color of how my cheeks look, but it totally has that amazing glow all by itself. It’s truly beautiful and I think it has the perfect amount of shimmer. & yea, I was pretty surprised at how nicely Egerie looked. I was totally prepared to try like 5 different lipsticks but it just worked.

    & duuuude, I so totally want to! I can’t remember the last time I wore purple eyeshadow! D:

    Hey sweetie! Teal is gorgeous on you, it’s so bright and I wish I could pull off a pop color like that ;__; Most of the time, I just look like someone’s had a go on my eyelids with a crayon lol. How are you?? I have to tell you that your birthday package came back to me in shambles so I’m filing a complaint with the post office so I think it might take a while for you to get your birthday present from me considering how slow they are here .__. I’m so sorry about this hun! I’ll get it out to you as soon as I can! <3

    Aww, of course you can pull off bright colors! You just have to get used to them, I think. =P I use all my brights in more or less the exact same placement as my neutrals and have found that that works pretty well like … 95% of the time. =)

    And awwww, I’m so sorry you’re having so much trouble on account of me! Don’t worry about it, hon! The thought it what counts most for me. =)
