Hi guys! I’m really excited because today I was able to pick up my pre-order of MAC‘s To the Beach Collection from my Nordstroms counter. I only pre-ordered one thing: the High-Light Powder in Marine Life ($26) which apparently sold out within 30 minutes of being on the MAC website Monday night and within about an hour of being on the Nordstroms website yesterday (and is already sold out on Macys.com too…). My counter got 15 and according to the SA who took my preorder and helped me today, they presold out and basically the entirety of Nordstroms can’t find anymore anywhere… which is pretty crazy considering the collection doesn’t even launch officially until tomorrow!
Anyway, I’m super happy I was able to snatch up one of these beauties. I’m not a huge MAC fan, but Marine Life is the prettiest thing I’ve seen from MAC in a LONG time. The last two LE things I picked up were the Warm pigments Holiday set from December and Mutiny pigment from A Rose Romance April ’09. Anyway, onto the picspam! :D

Everything from the To The Beach collection comes in bright green boxes and bright green or orange compacts. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the LE compacts, but I do have to say they are much nicer in person than they look in the promo images.

And the actual powder … man, I’m not a huge fan of overspray and I usually have no problem just brushing it off, but I have to say, Marine Life is stunning in person. The tester I saw when I preordered had already lost it’s gold overspray and I still thought it was really pretty and a very unique color, but I was really not prepared for how gorgeous it looks brand new. As a result, I don’t have the heart to swatch it quite yet, haha.

After the gold overspray is gone, the coral and light pink parts will remain. The coral part looks to be less orange but way brighter than NARS Torrid. Temptalia did a lovely comparison post here, and I will compare Marine Life to my other corals when I do finally swatch it.

And seriously, I have never been a fan of glittery, sparkly powders but isn’t that stunning?!
If you haven’t preordered and want to get your hands on Marine Life, I would recommend stalking the
Dillards (sold out as of 11:50pm, May 26th) and Bloomingdales websites, where it looks like the collection hasn’t gone live quite yet, and calling around to Macys, Dillards, Bloomingdales, Nordstroms and Belks in relatively more rural locations to see if they have it and will ship to you. (And good luck to you if you do!)
