two outfits & a fotd

Hey guys! Today I gave the self-timer another shot, and I have two outfits! I think I’m getting better with the self-timer, though it’s funny, it’s so windy that my hair’s different in every picture, haha. Anyway, hope you like the looks. :)

faux leather jacket by People’s Liberation; t shirt by GAP; cargo skinnies by H&M; Ahnu Lucia shoes; watch by Skagen; bracelet by Express; necklace by Amy Ensign; rings from the vendor fair at UCSD; crossbody bag by Vieta

Sorry the pictures are a little overexposed. I’m still having a really hard time getting my camera to focus on the self-timer shots. I really like this combination of motorcycle jacket and skinny black pants, and it’s casual enough that I’ve worn it to school and for going out a couple of times. I’m a graduate student in biophysics, and I already stand out enough as it is, haha. I’m thinking this will be more or less what I wear to the Outside Lands music festival this weekend.

For this second outfit, I decided to glam and girlify it up a bit! I’m not entirely sure where I’d ever wear this, other than just for fun on days when I don’t have lab. I do love it though. =)

blazer by H&M; t shirt by GAP; black pumps by Payless;
bracelets by Express, American Eagle, Anthropologie; druzy ring by walkonthemoon@etsy; necklace from Greece

I actually have never worn this second outfit out yet – I snagged this blazer from H&M for $10 a few weeks ago! I was so, so close to buying the grey one too, but really, how many lace blazers with a giant bow closure do you really need? I usually don’t buy clothes without having a pretty good idea of how it’ll fit in with the clothes I already have, but for $10 I brought this baby home without really worrying about it. I’ve been bouncing ideas around in my head for a little while now, and I’m really happy with how this outfit turned out! Hopefully I’ll think of more ways to wear it too. =)

For both of these outfits, I chose to wear Bvlgari Black as my sotd (scent of the day). It’s technically marketed as a men’s fragrance, but it’s a spicy black tea and vanilla with just a little edge of rubber. I like it because I think it’s a feminine fragrance with a masculine edge to it, kind of like black skinny cargo pants, or a blush pink lace blazer with a tailored fit. Sexy without trying too hard. =)

For my FOTD I just decided that it was a good day to pull out my hot pinks. I haven’t worn X-Rated or PK369 in quite a while, but I love them everytime I do. There’s something magical about a hot pink blush and lipstick. =)

Face: NARS Sheer Matte Stromboli, MAC Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel; Eyes: Bobbi Brown Bronze Palette Amber, Espresso, UD 24/7 Bourbon, HIP Gold Charge; Cheeks: R&R X-Rated; Lips: shu uemura pk369

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I really hope I have time (and some sunlight!) to take pictures for and write up some makeup posts soon. I’ve really missed blogging. :)

Wow!!! You look absolutely stunning in these shots! Love the pink lips! I love YOUR HAIR AS WELL! An your skin is looking completely flawless! :

It’s amazing how the outfis look completely diferent although the base is the same more or less! Very inspriing. I am totally jealous of the white blazer! I agree with you entirely – although I probably would have got the grey one too! Bows are mmy favouritist thing in the world! And with lace? Even more perfect!

    Catherine responds:

Aww, thanks hon. =) & lol, my skin’s far from flawless, the NARS foundation just photographs really well lol. l

& dude! A good jacket makes all the difference in the world!! The bow blazer is actually a light blush pink , but hehehe, I have to say I was really really tempted to get the grey one too. But I figured that like… probably every way that I figured to wear with one of them I could wear with the other, and then with such a unique piece it’d be really obvious that I had it two colors, you know what I mean? Versus like, t shirts, which you can have in a bazillion colors and no one can tell hahaha. I’m probably just a little ocd. But yea!!! I love bows and lace too! It’s hard for me to find ways to wear it without appearing too juvenile or lolita but I think I did a pretty good job. =)

  2. I LOVE your second outfit! The blazer, the zipper detailing on your pants, and your slouchy shirt all work really well together. (And also, no such thing as too many lace blazers with giant bow closures!)

I hope you get better sunlight soon, so you can bring us some pretty makeup posts xD

    Catherine responds:

Hehehe, thanks!! & lolll. I’m always kind of wary of things that can look a bit too juvenile or lolita on me because I look young enough as it is, but I’m really happy I decided to go with this blazer. =)

& thanks! I got some sunlight today but I was out all day… so hopefully Monday though, Monday’s supposed to be nice. :D

    Catherine responds:

Awww hehehe, thanks!!! And dude, I was totally floored myself! I mean like what are the chances the LAST ONE is marked down to $10 and is IN MY SIZE?!?!?! Was so freaking excited hahahaha. I seriously stood there and like, debated for 20 minutes at least on which one to buy or whether to buy both of them. But I think I made a good choice with the blush pink one. =) & aww ty :D

Hey sweetie! It’s so good to have you blogging again! Dude your cargo skinnies are soooo sexy!!! I love the looks and omg can I just say in the first shot, you look so bad ass with your awesome faux leather jacket and windblown hair? ;p That is a girl you don’t want to mess with! And awww you know how much I love your H&M bow blazer already but hey it’s actually looking pretty versatile in the outfits you’ve presented so maybe you should go out and get the grey one too heheh. LOVE the jewelry and that almost fuchsia lip colour, so hot girl!

    Catherine responds:

Awwww hehehe, thanks hon!! I’ve really missed blogging, so I really hope I can keep it up. =) & hahahahahaha, thanks!!! I’m glad you think so. I don’t wear them so often (because they attract lint like nobody’s business) but obviously I need to wear them out more hahaha. I think I also got them for $10 at H&M or something, now that I think about it. & dude thanks!! I actually just tweeted you a pic of another outfit I put together with it! I’m really proud of myself!! Hope I can figure out some more ways to wear it hahaha, I think it’s actually a really good challenge for me. =) & aww, unfortunately when I got the blazer it and the grey one were the last ones left (incredibly in my size, I almost couldn’t believe it) so the grey one’s long gone by now. But I think it’s ok ’cause the pink one’s prettier anyway, plus, since it’s more of a statement piece it’d be really obvious if I had it in two different colors.

& lol!!! I’m really happy I give off a tough vibe! That’s seriously tough for me. Ok – that outfit’s basically going to be my fall uniform lolllll! Love you, hon! :D

  8. Cat! I’ve been gone so long, I haven’t been able to catch up with anyone! I’m in love with the bow closure/lace jacket. It’s absolutely to die for. I just bought these new shoes that have these two huge bows on them! Bows bows bows for back to school! I’ve actually been taking a lot of ootd photos too, just so that i can remember all the combinations once school sets in. It seems really easy, but it’s so hard to remember how to put together outfits in the morning and just look at your closet like. duh.. i have nothing to wear. xD I hope you’re doing healthy and well~

oh yea one more thing, awesome pink lipstick! I”ve been trying to let go of my fears and wear bright lipstick outside! ahahaha
